About This Game:
Civilization VI is a turn-based strategy video game in which one or more players compete alongside computer-controlled AI opponents to grow their individual civilization from a small tribe to control of the entire planet. This can be accomplished by achieving one of several victory conditions, all based on the 4X gameplay elements, «eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, and eXterminate». Players found cities, expand them by adding various city improvements, and build military units to explore and attack opposing forces, while managing the technology development for their civilization and their diplomatic relationships with the other opponents.
Features:
- New game engine
- Cities will now span multiple tiles, called «districts»
- Civilian units can be assigned with military escorts
- Support units, such as Battering Rams or Anti-Air Guns, can be stacked with other types of units
- The Great Works system makes a return from Brave New World, with improvements
- One victory type has been removed compared to Civilization V, but one brand new type has been added as well
- Two units can be merged in the Napoleonic era to form a ‘corps’ that is 40% stronger. Later a third unit can be added to form an ‘army’ in the industrial era a century after.
- Research has been changed: if you haven’t seen any water, it’ll be more difficult to research Sailing, for example. On the other hand, a coastal city would give you a boost for researching naval technologies.
- Diplomacy evolves through times. The designers remarked that Teddy Roosevelt put it very well when he said that «As civilization grows, warfare becomes less and less the normal condition of foreign relations.»
